The code for indicating "yes" and "no" in other countries, breaks down in Greece (as well as in southern Italy and Bulgaria). The "no" looks like "yes": a slight or exaggerated tipping back of the head sometimes with the eyes closed and eyebrows raised.

When it comes to eye contact, Greeks openly stare at anything that interests them so don't be offended if you are the centre of attention wherever you go.
