The highly popular no-name bakery in Glyfada

According to the locals, “Lavidas”, also known as the “Antheon” bakery, is a landmark of Ano Glyfada. Its delicious pies, “peinirli” (boat-shaped pizzas), pizzas and pita bread sandwiches are made with the freshest ingredients.

When you think of going to Glyfada for a walk, what usually comes to mind is the seaside centre. The other side of the city is “Ano” Glyfada, which is more like a province and has some hidden treasures that only the locals know. One of them is “Lavidas”.

The bakery of Antheon Street does not have a label, nor an official name. Some simply call it “Lavidas” (the surname of the owner), others know it as the “bakery of Antheon”. But if you ask a local where to go for pies, pizzas, pastries and puff pastries, most probably, he will send you there. Without using a sign, advertising brochures or digital marketing, over the years, “Lavidas” became famous in Glyfada, simply thanks to its fresh, delicious goodies.

Lavidas

It is almost impossible to say what is the speciality of this bakery. Many of us visit it every week to enjoy the spicy Arabic pita bread and the peinirli. Also, pizza is always an excellent option. Initially, the bakery was established thanks to its cheese pie, but since then the menu continues to evolve. You will find all the classic options in pita bread, plus falafel, chicken panini, various baguettes and many more (not only savoury) delicacies that excite all kinds of audiences and satisfy their cravings.

Here, quantity is of secondary importance. What distinguishes “Lavidas” is that quality standards are never compromised. Whatever you choose comes from well-crafted recipes and is freshly made with the finest ingredients. The icing on the cake is the impressively quick service that comes from the smiling staff who always manages to keep up the pace, even when the shop is full.

You can sit either indoors or on the patio. Every Saturday, familiar and unfamiliar faces gather here for the most heart-warming breakfast in Glyfada. Keep in mind that the bakery is closed on Sundays!
