Disappointed by the European Commission’s latest report on the implementation of the Airport Charges Directive, the airline associations AEA, ELFAA, ERA and IACA (International Air Carrier Association) issued an announcement according to which, the Commission does not propose concrete steps against the failings identified in the timely report. “We need cost-efficient airport charges that are set in a transparent way, based on a meaningful consultation between airports and airlines”, reads the associations’ announcement. “If this cannot be achieved under the current framework, improved legislation is necessary” is added.
