Athenians get free domestic compost bins

In an effort to establish complete management of biodegradable waste at their source and promote recycling processes within households, the administration of Recycling & Maintenance of Mechanical Equipment of the City of Athens will hand out free compost bins where citizens, at their homes, can recycle their organic wastes. With 310ltr storage capacity, the bins are suitable for turning organic waste, vegetable and fruit peelings, cut grass, leaves etc, into compost, which then can be used as fertilizer. The compost bins must be placed in a garden, not on concrete surfaces or pavements, facing sunlight. Athenians interested in acquiring the compost bins should fill in the form which they’ll find at the Municipalities web page (http://www.cityofathens.gr/node/25031), and email it by the 30th of September at the following address: gr.anakyklwsis@cityofathens.gr & ath.anakyklwsi@cityofathens.gr. The bins will be delivered by municipal employees.
