Car owners turn in their plates

Luxury, cars in Greece are becoming more of a burden to their owners who, economically stifled, are now parking them away in garages and driveways. As Kathimerini reports, over a million car owners, have turned in their car’s license plates to the country’s DMV in order to avoid unbearable taxation, according to data released by the Greek Finance Ministry, which have also shown that sales of new or used cars have plummeted in the past years.

Before the economic crisis 250,000 of used cars were sold annually, while the number now does not exceed 65,000.
