Explosive device goes off near Piraeus courthouses

An explosive device of gas canisters went off in the early hours today on Skouze Street in Piraeus near Piraeus courthouses. The blast caused minor damage to the telephone company’s cross-connect box the device was strapped on. The counter-terrorism police unit investigates the act.

Later in the day, at 9.05 a.m. an anonymous call came at the “Efimerida ton Syntakton” newspaper warning that a bomb placed within the premises of Piraeus courthouse was timed to go off an hour later from the call. The courthouse was immediately evacuated and inspected by explosive experts.
