The first television debate of the candidate mayors of Athens, Giorgos Kaminis and his SYRIZA opponent Gavriil Sakellaridis, the front-runners in the first round of local government elections last Sunday, is to be aired this evening on Athens-based private television station ANT1, right after the stations “News”. As Sakellaridis suggested on Monday, a publicly-held meeting in the amphitheatre of the Athens municipality radio station “Athens 9.84” attended by citizens should conclude the dialogue.Citizens could pose questions on predetermined thematic units without the pressure of television time limits. He had also suggested that the discussion be aired on the City of Athens radio station, as well as on private television stations. A television debate between the Attica regional governor candidates, Yiannis Sgouros and Rena Dourou, is however unlikely to be seen, as announced on Tuesday, due to differences encountered between the two.
