A 46-year-old football fan was injured on Sunday afternoon at Herakleio, Crete, during a violent outbreak between supporters of third division clubs Herodotos and Ethnikos Piraeus. As the game was drawing to a close, Herodotos fans reportedly attacked the travelling supporters of Ethnikos at the stands.
One of the Ethnikos fans, received several blows on his head and was carried unconscious to the local hospital, where the doctors pronounced him clinically dead. Two more Ethnikos fans were reported injured.
Police announced the arrest of a 27-year-old man in relation to the attack on the 46-year-old, while two more arrests were made for the clashes.
