Four British tourists vacationing on the Ionian Sea island of Zakynthos, who went missing on Thursday afternoon after renting a boat for a tour of Laganas Bay, were found safe and sound in the early morning hours on Friday off the island's Gerakas beach. Just before nightfall, their boat ran out of fuel, 5 nautical miles away from the nearest coast and two of them decided to swim for help as they had no means of communication on them. In the meantime, the owners of the rented boat notified the Coastguard that launched a search and rescue operation along the south side of the island late on Thursday night. The boat with the two tourists on board was located at 05:00 hours on Friday, 8 nautical miles east of Laganas Bay and the other two were located soon after on a rocky islet nearby.
