Greece to expand Athens Airport concession rights

The privatisation process for Athens International Airport goes in track with State sell-off fund TAIPED announcing on Monday that it has commissioned an independent consultant to assess the reasonable value of operation rights for 20 years, reports “Kathimerini”. The TAIPED plan is to expand the existing concession contract, which expires on June 11 2026, to June 11, 2046. TAIPED’s first attempt in 2011 to sell the same rights, for about 200 million euros, bore no results as Hochtief’s German shareholders were not in agreement.
The current process is expected to start within the first quarter of 2015.
