Greece likely to be severely affected by climate change

Athens as well as other Greek cities, are some of the regions in the Mediterranean to be most affected by climate change, indicated the Secretary General of Research and Technology, Christos Vasilakos during an international conference held recently in Athens, under the auspices of the rotating European Union Greek Presidency and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT). The Mediterranean is “painted” in gloomy colours, with high temperatures, low levels of rainfall, frequent extreme weather phenomena, fires and the continuous rising of sea level to be widely experienced due to climate change. The future rests upon societies themselves, their choices and policymaking should determine the extend of the situation at hand.
