Greeks chose to stay at home for May Fest holiday

The city of Rome comes on the high pick of Greek travelers for this year’s May Day long weekend holiday, however compared to last year’s trend of traveling abroad for the same holiday, a recent survey by Trivago suggests that most Greeks will prefer to travel “Greece” this time. Nafplio comes second in preference followed by Thessaloniki and Athens. Hydra is seventh preferred May Day weekend getaway, followed by Monemvasia, Spetses and Rethymno in Crete.
Last year, seven out of the Greek’s 10 traveling choices for the May Day long weekend were mainly foreign cities. This year, only three cities abroad made the top 10: Rome, which comes first, Istanbul that was ranked fifth and London to follow on the sixth place. The survey took place during the February 1 – April 20 period.
