Majority of Britons want Parthenon Marbles returned to Athens

Almost half (49 pct) of Britons believe that the Parthenon Marbles should return “home” to Athens, according to a YouGov survey published in the Times on Tuesday. The poll asked 1,589 people from whom only a quarter of the respondents said that the artefacts should not be repatriated and a quarter was undecided. The survey was conducted just a few days after the British Museum had announced it had loaned one of the Parthenon sculptures to Russia's Hermitage museum for an exhibition, a development that infuriated Greece.
