Meryl Streep to portray Maria Callas in new film

The Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep who has transformed herself into legendary women such us Margaret Thatcher and Anna Wintour, is signing on to star as the opera diva Maria Callas, in the new film production of HBO. In “Master Class”, originally an award-winning Broadway play by Terrence McNally’s, director Mike Nichols casts light into unknown aspects of the life of one of the most renowned and influential Greek figures of the 20th century Opera. The film focuses in particular on Callas’ teaching days at New York City’s Juilliard School in 1971. Filming is expected to begin in January 2015.
