Name of presidential candidate to be announced on Tuesday

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is to announce the candidate’s name for the Presidency of the Republic on Tuesday, February 17 during Syriza’s parliamentary group meeting, said government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis, who added that the parliamentary voting for the election of the Greek President of the Republic will take place on Wednesday. The candidate’s name announcement had been expected on Sunday, but as the government spokesman explained, Tsipras would wait until Monday's Eurogroup is out of the way before he reveals who he will nominate to succeed President Karolos Papoulias.
