A new policing plan against delinquent behaviour, a thorn on the capital’s image, is soon to launch in the historic center of Athens, announced the Secretary General for Public Order Dimitris Anagnostakis during a meeting recently held in Athens upon request of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA). In view of the forthcoming summer season, the Association underlined a series of issues that affect the capital’s tourism and travel agency sector, including its lawful functioning and the attraction of more visitors to Athens. The Greek travel agents have further informed Mr. Anagnostakis on the problems tourist bus drivers face in accessing, stopping and parking in the city center. The secretary general and HATTA have agreed to cooperate more closely in order to protect the city from illegal tourism activity that would inevitably cause bad impressions.
