A Sea in the Center of the Town: 24 artists are inspired by summer

The Artshot – Sophia Gaitani Gallery presents the group exhibition “A Sea in the Center of the Town” at the Upper House Athens, running until the 30th of September 2023.

I had never been to The Upper House Athens on the rooftop of the Attica department store. I rarely go to department stores and I didn’t know that there is a café-bar-restaurant-art space with a magnificent view and tables on the terrace above Attica City Link. I just discovered it, when I visited the group exhibition “Summer Lovers” or “Sea in the Center of the Town” of the Art Gallery Artshot – Sophia Gaitani. Sophia Gaitani organized the exhibition, gathered the artists and set up the works in the right way, in the right place. The Upper House Athens is a place where art meets taste since it combines both worlds; at the opening, we tried delicious samosas, Asian-style pastries filled with vegetables which were an exquisite sample of fine cuisine, along with an assortment of croquettes and finger food.

The exhibition has just begun and will last until the end of the summer, which in Greece means until the 30th of September. Sophia studied the location of the works of art so that they were amazingly displayed thanks to the abundant natural light (there are windows everywhere) and the brightness of the Athenian sky, which certainly shines brighter in the summer. Twenty-four artists were inspired by summer, love and the sea. When you look at the works of art you get the feeling that they were all created by the sea.
