Tsipras calls for national Parliament elections

Following the results of the European Parliament elections, which showed a victorious prevalence of the main opposition Radical Left Coalition SYRIZA by a margin of more than 3 percentage points over the New Democracy senior government coalition partner party, SYRIZA’s leader Alexis Tsipras called for the immediate conduct of national Parliament elections. Emphasizing that the popular verdict in the European elections rendered the Left the number one political force “with a considerable difference”, Tsipras stressed that the people gave mandate for the formation of a wide, democratic, progressive alliance which will win the national elections and will take over the projects of social salvation and country reconstruction.
