US military base in Larissa, Greece, due to return "home"

A U.S. Military Base in Larissa, Greece, one of the 21 planted around Europe, will return “home” upon Pentagon’s decision. According to greekreporter.com, the United States is planning to repatriate 12 bases in Germany and others in Italy, Denmark, Greece, the UK and Belgium, in an effort to manage defence spending. As the Pentagon spokesman, Rear Adm. John Kirby said, this would save the state approximately 60 million dollars per year. However, this decision will not affect the operational capability of the U.S. Army in Europe, particularly with the Ukraine crisis at hand, said Kirby. “None of these adjustments affects existing force structure or military capabilities, and the efficiencies will further enable US European Command to resource high priority missions”.
