Voter abstention in Greek municipal elections at 38.4%

Voter abstention in the first round of elections for Greek local authorities on Sunday reached 38.4 percent of the electoral body, as the figures published on Monday have shown.

In the Municipality of Athens, the abstention reached 50 percent, with 232.399 votes cast from a body of 477.771. Slightly higher was the rate of votes cast in other major cities of the country. The percentage in Thessaloniki was 56.4, in Patra 64.9, in Heraklio, Crete, 70.4, in Larissa, Central Greece, 67.4 and 63.5 percent in Volos.
