Where to drink your coffee in a wafer ice cream cup

One of the most special coffee trends we have recently seen on social media is coffee served in a wafer ice cream cone, i.e. #coffeeinacone! The cone does not break, does not “leak” and, when you finish drinking, it pleasantly dissolves in your mouth. Let’s be honest though, you only have a few minutes to drink your coffee– and eat the cone.

It all started from a coffee shop in Johannesburg that had the idea of serving coffee in an ice cream cone coated with chocolate on the inside. Soon, the idea went viral on the internet and it did not take long to reach our country. So now, anyone who is curious enough can try this crunchy wafer cup along with his favourite coffee.

Of course, at Italus Café they do not use an ordinary wafer cone to serve the coffee, but a flat-bottomed one that is specifically prepared for the shop. The secret lies in the rich inner chocolate coating that prevents the coffee from heating the walls of the cone, soaking them and finally melting down the whole biscuit.

Chocolate comes in various colours and flavours, and there is even a pink coating for those who love an extra element of surprise. What you should avoid though, is to try to eat the cone before drinking the coffee inside, since many customers who got carried away and did bite the cone, resulted in getting coffee all over their clothes.

Surprises don’t stop there; in addition to this special way of serving the coffee, at Italus Café you will also find an innovative coffee printer that prints whatever you want on the surface of the coffee foam: a photo you have seen on the internet, on social media or your own photo. You can even write a special dedication!
