No meat enthusiast can resist a tasty burger with juicy beef, rich cheddar cheese and buttery fluffy bread. However, some people are looking for quantity along with quality, and love an element of surprise. They want their burger to be exuberant and to delight them not only in taste but also in the eye. This is exactly what the owners of Burger Ink in Koropi had in mind when they decided to give a subversive twist to classic burgers and make them look “different”, more joyful and more colourful.
Thus, in their hands, burgers are bathed in a creamy cheddar sauce enriched with various plant-based colours. For example, pink comes from tomato paste, blue from cuttlefish ink powder and green from spinach. As they told us, each colour reacts differently to the natural yellow colour of the cheese and the result is often very impressive. “Our goal was to give the customer the choice to put their touch on the burger by choosing its colour, after all this is what colour does when you add it to your everyday life. It creates feelings, joy and shows your taste”, they point out.
In this burger shop, originality does not stop there. The patrons playfully call the bakers “surgeons”, since they add the sauce on the burgers using a syringe, as a doctor would administer a vaccine to a patient. Then comes the magic, as they set the brioche on fire in front of the customers' eyes to create a flambé effect. They also do many impressive tricks with flying knives - handled of course with care and proper expertise. Videos of these impressive scenes are posted on their social media and have hundreds of views.
