Hard Rock Cafe returns to Athens

Athens is soon to have its own authentic Hard Rock Café, once again, as the owner of one of the world’s most celebrated brands had recently announced the return of the Hard Rock Café to the Greek capital. According to GTP, the Athenian Hard Rock Café will be located at Monastiraki, in the capital’s historical center and in a very close distance to the Acropolis. Hard Rock International is in a constant search of new investment opportunities said David Pellow, Area Vice President-Europe at Hard Rock International. “Opening a company-owned store in Athens is a fantastic opportunity”, he noted. GTP asked Pellow if Greece has ever been considered as a destination to host a Hard Rock hotel. “For Greece I would say yes, in terms of infrastructure and of the tourism outburst… Yes, I’m sure it’s one of the opportunities that presents itself”, he replied adding that Greece is in fact among the many target markets of the company.
Hosted in a two-story venue the new Athens café will include two internal terrace areas, over 60 rock memorabilia items from Hard Rock’s legendary collection, a bar/restaurant, private event space and the brand’s retail Rock Shop. Its opening is due April but the bar will begin to operate in the summer while the restaurant will open in November. The Hard Rock brand existed previously in Athens through franchise for about nine years (2004-2013). The new establishment is expected to provide 80 new jobs.
