President of the Greek Parliament Zoe Constantopoulou announced on Tuesday the formation of the special committee to audit the country’s public debt, with the assistance of local and international institutions. As Constantopoulou noted, the committee is a “minimum debt toward society and the European community in order for the truth to be revealed and for justice to be served”, reports Kathimerini. The first meeting is due early April in Athens and its initial findings would be released at an international conference in June, added the Greek Parliament President. Placed on the new committee are the European Parliament MP Sofia Sakorafa and the Belgian historian, political scientist and public debt expert Eric Toussaint.
