Greek cruise market recovers

The Greek cruise market seems to be recovering after two years of dramatic decline, according to figures recently released by CLIA (Cruise Lines Association) Europe, during the 31st Cruise Shipping Miami conference at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Though Greeks are still “unaccustomed” with this type of holiday, there was an impressive 10 percent increase in domestic cruise passengers in 2014. “The recovery of Greek tourism has greatly affected our country’s cruise sector and according to date estimates for 2015, it appears that it will be a good year in number of visitors and passengers”, noted Kyriakos Anastasiadis, CEO of Celestyal Cruises and member of the Executive Committee CLIA Europe. For another year cruise follows a dynamic growth, he said adding that home-porting ships are expected to increase in Greece by some 20 percent.
