Ancient Greek Drama in five languages

By initiative of its artistic director Ms Vanessa Adam, Badminton Theater will be staging Ancient Greek Drama in five languages this summer, for its foreign audience.
A unique opportunity not only for the Athenian public but for foreign holidaymakers to Athens to experience the powerful feeling of “catharsis” invoked by the ancient Greek theatrical tradition that became the common heritage of the world’s theatrical culture.
The “Ancient Drama Cycle”, a glimpse in the glorious history, the myths and the ideals of the Greeks, includes some of the most celebrated works of the ancient Greek theatre, supertitled in English and five more languages, depending on the attending audience.
In this project, which is under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Ms Adam has also invited the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) to participate. Welcoming the initiative, the president of HATTA Lysandros Tsilidis said that the “Ancient Drama Cycle”, provides an interesting entertainment option for tourists, who will be able to combine their stay in Athens with a rewarding cultural experience.
The drama series begins on June 12 with Euripides’ Electra, and will run throughout the summer until September 26.
