2nd Athens World Poetry Festival

The 2nd Athens World Poetry Festival is currently running at the Garden of the Athens Concert Hall (Megaro Moussikis). For the next few days and until Saturday 26, 50 poets from 21 different countries will be unveiling the beauty and treasures of poetry before the “simple men” through a series of poetry-tribute events to be also held in cultural hubs around Athens, such as bookstores, cafes and bars, galleries, public squares, even prisons. “The continuous and public communication of poetry with the wider public is one of the main goals”, says the Poets' Circle, co-organizer of the Festival that features celebrated Greek poets such as Nanos Valaoritis, Titos Patrikios, Kiki Dimoula, Evgenios Aranitsis, Giannis Dallas, Dimitra Christodoulou and Kostas Stergiopoulos as well as many other acclaimed poetry figures from abroad such as the Syrian-Lebanese Adonis, Carolyn Forch from the US, Spanish Rikardo Areggi, Gerhard Falkner from Germany and Fernando Rendon from Colombia. Admission to the festival is free. Athens Concert Hall, Vassilissis Sofias & Kokkali www.megaron.gr
