Kea is ideal for long weekends. The boat leaves from Lavrio and takes you to the island named after Keo. The island's capital town is Ioulida.
Where to go
Chora, situated where the ancient Ioulida used to be, is the capital, filled with traditional houses and cobblestoned alleys. Good news for technology freaks: there is free wi-fi everywhere. Pisses is a scenic seaside village famous for the impressive Poiessas archeaological site. Vourkari is a sophisticated resort with plenty of bars and restaurants.
Where to swim
Otzia (you can take a bus fro Ioulida) is the busiest beach for the whole family. At Xyla, you have to go through a mild country road but you are rewarded with azure blue waters and an endless sandy beach. Gialiskari is 1km away from the port featuring tamarix trees and cafes for you to lie around. Koundouros is almost 45 asphalt paved minutes from the port, passing less or more secluded beaches on the way. In the south part there is Platis Gialos for privacy or Schinos if you own a wild 4x4.
Where to eat and drink
You can find fresh fish at Vourkari at Aristos and Ennia Kores. Anna at Otzia has freshly cooked meals every day. Long coffees at Simos at Ioulida. Drinks at Afro where the music matches its name and old time island rock at Vinilio, Vourkari.
