Greek universities on strike

Greek universities are for a new two-day strike as announced by their national union this weekend. Their administrative staff is to walk off their tasks from Tuesday, expressing their opposition to the imminent dismissal of colleagues as part of the government’s civil service overhaul. This new protest, which endangers students’ completion of the winter semester, is being called “as a warning” to the government in reference to the fact that dozens of staff face dismissal at the end of this month when an eight-month evaluation period is set to expire.
