Where to swim
Roukounas is the free campers paradise, a sandy beach one kilometer long. One of the most popular ones is crystal clear waters Kleisidi, while at Kalamiotissa you can enjoy a night swim and watch the sunrise. For more beautiful beaches go to the south part of the island, Ai Giannis, Megas Potamos, Monastiri and Flamourou. Yoy will reach Katsouni following the path over Kleisidi. Please also note: Agios Nikolaos (near the port), Vagia and Kammeni Lagkada (both to the west), Agioi Anargyroi (peaceful and quiet below the church by the same name).
Where to eat and drink
At Margarita's at Kleisidi you can enjoy home baked bread with shafran and tomatokeftedes, it is open all day till late at night. Kyr Markos at Armenaki in Chora prepares and serves ntakos with ouzo and when he feels like it he will grab his bouzouki and play. You can find fresh fish here only at noon. At the Asrahan taverna you can try octopus in wine and at the Steki you can have local lamb. The cafes at Chora (Mylos, next to the school) turn the music up at night and become bars.
