The number of tourists arriving on the island of Rhodes has impressively increased by 11.38pct in May, compared to the same period last year, as the figures released by the island’s “Diagoras” airport showed. The airport authorities recorded a significant increase in arrivals from Germany, Finland and Switzerland, however a 56pct rise in arrivals from Israel was also noted. However, the negative impact of the crisis in the Ukraine was reflected in the 10pct fewer arrivals from Russia and 50pct fewer from Ukraine. Also fewer were the Italian visitors, and domestic arrivals were down 9.12pct compared to May last year.
