Summer retail season to begin on July 4

The summer retail sales season is about to begin in a few days while on Sunday July 20, stores are also to remain open from 11am to 8pm.

The sales season begins on Monday the 14th of July and will last until Saturday the 30th of August.

The National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE) urges consumers to avoid illicit markets and issued guidelines to the federations and unions across the country regarding legal provisions.

In the meanwhile, the Ministry of Growth processes the final changes to its decree regarding the operation of stores on Sundays, one of the six troika’s “prerequisites” in order for Greece to collect a one-billion-euro loan instalment. According to sources from the Ministry, the stores to operate on all Sundays are those in the historic city centres of Athens and Thessaloniki, and at the tourist areas in Pikermi, Rafina, Halkidiki, Rhodes, Kos, Syros, Myconos and Santorini. Should the results are positive, the measure will further expand to the rest of the country.
