“Take off” for the first seaplanes in Greece is due May 2015 with the “Hellenic Seaplanes” ready for service and scheduling their flights.
Vice president and general manager of the company, Mihalis Assariotis, has recently informed the Greek media that the flight booking system will be activated and fully accessible by coming October. “Hellenic Seaplanes” was originally planning to have its connection services operating as of this summer period, however the legislative process proved a considerable obstacle and plans were “revised” for next year. However, talking to the Athens News Agency, Ms. Assariotis gave credit to the Greek state acknowledging its great contribution to the company’s effort for the establishment of seaplane services in the country.
The company’s plans for the coming year suggest the service of the islands of Sporades with 10 waterways, targeting for 100 waterways in full service throughout the country in 2016.
