Recycling on the rise but still low

More Greeks are getting to recycle, at least once per month, according to a recent survey conducted by Public Issue on behalf of the WWF Hellas Organization, which showed an increase by 28 percent over the last seven years. 86 percent of the Greeks recycle at least once per month, against 58 percent in 2007, indicates the survey.

However, the percentage of people recycling on an almost daily basis is approximately 58 percent, and still most household wastes are dumped in the landfills.

13 percent of people do not recycle at all or are not aware of the recycling availability.

There are also a 1 percent of people who said there are no recycling bins in their area.

The survey was conducted on June 11-19 using a sample of 1,009 people in different Greek cities.
