The City of Athens promotes an “interactive” relation with the citizens through an inspiring initiative called “Meet the Mayor”. The initiative, announced by Mayor Yiorgos Kaminis earlier this week, is actually an open invitation to private parties, groups, associations and other bodies to schedule appointments with the Mayor, twice a month, in order to discuss concerning issues and be informed on what local authorities can or can’t do in their regard. “Citizens want to meet the mayor”, said Kaminis. “Given that the mayor can’t always be in each and every neighbourhood, let the neighbourhoods come to City Hall”, explained the Mayor.
