The Greek island of Santorini, one of Greece’s most celebrated destinations, is placed No1 in Europe in the 2015 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Islands, while awarded 4th place in the top islands of the world. More than 100 islands worldwide have been honored in this year’s awards that included lists for Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, South America, the South Pacific, the U.K., and the U.S. The award winning islands were chosen out of an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions on islands all around the globe, gathered over a 12-month period. For that “perfect island escape”, says Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor, “our well-traveled community has uncovered the best islands around the world, whether you want to lie on the beach or seek adventure”.
The island of Crete features in the third place and Zakynthos in the forth, in the Europe’s list.
