Who is to blame for the Greek crisis?

The SYRIZA-led government announced it will submit a proposal for establishing a committee of experts to examine the handling of the Greek debt crisis by previous administrations. The “memorandum committee” is to assess whether previous governments upheld the interests of the Greek people by signing two agreements with the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund pledging austerity measures in exchange for bailout funding. “We are fulfilling our commitment and the social demand, with no intention of revanchism or criminalization of the political life, in order to explore the causes and responsibilities of an unprecedented crisis that devastated the vast majority of society», said SYRIZA’s parliamentary secretary Christos Mandas.
