A vast industrial art space organized around a central courtyard, the Benaki annex is concerned with modern, inventive and contemporary art where its other museums are concerned with the historic and the classical. Apart from a couple pf portraits of founder Antonis Benakis, the museum has no permanent exhibitions, choosing instead to have rotating temporary collections on display. The building also hosts various exhibitions, music events, performances and conferences at its modern amphitheater—it’s worth checking the schedule if you’d like to attend any. With a modern café and an excellent shop, the museum truly is Athens’s window to contemporary art and design.
