A magical “animated” world has settled on the island of Syros, at its beautiful town of Hermoupolis. Established in 2008, the annual International Animation Festival, “AnimaSyros”, has become one of the largest and most anticipated festivals of its kind in Greece and one of the 20 most important globally, a meeting point for animators and studios from around the world who celebrate this intangible yet powerful asset of artistic creation. The festival features animation film screenings and tributes to international animation festivals, happenings and parties and lots of parallel events. It implements, as always, a series of media literacy activities to motivate and inspire children, youngster and adults, professionals and amateurs, with the creation of moving images, optic toys, animation films and more that come up, while this year, proudly launches the «Agora» animation market section that aims to become a hub of creative professional networking and targets in synergies developed among animation professionals. All the festival’s events are free to the public and take place “all around” the town, at Hermoupolis’ landmark, the world-famous Apollo Theatre, at the Hermoupolis Cultural Centre, the venues of the University of the Aegean, the central Miaouli Square and elsewhere.
