Standing against the coalition government’s controversial privatisation plans, the General Federation of GENOP DEI (Public Power Corporation) employees, has announced its intention to set for 48-hours rolling strikes within the month. According to the Corporation’s statement, DEI demands the repeal of the bill and a referendum to be conducted arguing further that “the government does not have the moral and democratic authority to privatise DEI group”. GENOP also calls the President to intervene on the matter, requesting the government to present its energy plans for the country. As TA NEA newspaper wrote, a government official, not to be named, noted that the government will not tolerate DEI unionists to block down power plans.
