How come they are all good-looking?
Only the tallest most good-looking soldiers can serve as guards in Syntagma.
And what if a guard has to go to the toilet?
He isn’t allowed to. But one can wear a diaper.
What happens if I tickle a guard?
He will make a slight (almost invisible) gesture with his finger to the soldier nearby and he will take care of you.
Can I feed the pigeons?
Please don’t. They are bulimic.
Why can’t I flush the toilet-paper down the toilet?
You don’t want the whole Athens sewage system to collapse.
How much is the cab fare from the airport to the city center?
It depends. From 45 to 50 euro.
I am free for the weekend. What do you suggest I do?
Take the boat and visit an island like all normal people. Try Hydra and Aegina from Piraeus, Andros from Rafina, Tzia from Lavrion.
Where is everybody from 3-6 pm?
Somewhere cool, either hugging the air-conditioner or by the sea.
What’s inside the Greek coffee?
It tastes like sand. Hey, either drink it or stop complaining.
How come coffee is so expensive in Greece?
The coffee shop owners also charge for the chair. It can take a Greek two hours to drink a frappé
What’s a frappé coffee?
Instant coffee. Shaken, not stirred.
Why are there almost no Greeks at a McDonald’s?
We prefer the local Everest of Goody’s.
Name one thing that’s unique about Athens.
Summer open-air cinemas. Try Aigli (in Zappeion), Boboniera (in Kifissia), Dexameni (in Kolonaki).
I am really bored of museums. I only want to visit one.
Benaki Museum is elegant and covers it all. The National Archaeological Museum is one of the most important of its kind in the world.

No, we throw flowers at each other. Rather expensive habit, though.

Eat something at the Central Market on Athinas Street.
Where do I get breakfast?
Good luck! Greeks never have breakfast. We go straigth to brunch (usually it is just a cheese pie).
