ABTA convention to be held in Messinia

Messinia, the southwestern Region of Peloponnese, will host the 2015 Travel Convention of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), as announced on 23 September in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana at the end of the 2014 Convention. The ABTA Travel Convention is considered a highly esteemed tourism event and is expected to attract over 600 British travel agents/ABTA members. The convention gathers the full breadth of the mainstream and specialist travel sector from cruise lines, tour operators, hotels and airlines to insurance providers and representatives of Google, Yahoo, Tripadvisor and travel writers of leading British publications and it will take place at the luxury coastal resort complex, Costa Navarino, from 12-14 October.
“I am delighted that the Region of Peloponnese has agreed to host the 2015 Travel Convention,” ABTA Chairman Noel Josephides said. “Messenia is a beautiful and historic part of Greece and Costa Navarino’s facilities are second to none”, he added.
“I am extremely satisfied and happy about ABTA’s decision to host next year’s event in the Peloponnese in the beautiful area of Messenia”, said on his part the governor of the Region of Peloponnese Petros Tatoulis.
It is estimated that host destinations of the ABTA convention see an increase of approximately 25 percent in arrivals from the United Kingdom within a few months of the convention’s organization.
“I am extremely satisfied and happy about ABTA’s decision to host next year’s event in the Peloponnese in the beautiful area of Messinia,” Petros Tatoulis, Governor of the Region of Peloponnese said. The last time Greece had hosted the Convention was in 2000, at Kos.
