Elefsina candidate for 2011 European Capital for Culture

The city of Elefsina in Attika, Greece, has submitted its candidacy for the 2021 European Capital of Culture nomination, presenting its submission file during an event on February 17, reports Greek Reporter news portal. Claiming the title, the city aims to bolster its dynamic development and find its place among the creative cities across Europe. Not only for its significant history, as one of the five sacred cities of ancient Greece, and its contemporary role as a prime industrial center, but also for its flourishing cultural activity in recent decades, the city has “built” strong arguments for its candidacy.
