Government receives vote of confidence

With 162 votes in favour the Greek government received vote of confidence from Parliament in a roll-call vote that started just before 1:00 on Wednesday with a total of 299 MPs taking part. The votes in favour came exclusively from the two parties supporting the ruling coalition, with 149 from SYRIZA's bloc and 13 from the Independent Greeks (ANEL). Against the government's policy statements voted all 137 MPs in the opposition (New Democracy, Golden Dawn, Potami, Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and PASOK), with the exception of GD lead Nikos Michaloliakos who was absent.
