Greece will not make legal claim for the Parthenon Marbles

Alternate Culture Minister Nikos Xydakis says “no” to legal actions against the British Museum for the return of the Parthenon Marbles. Speaking on Mega television on Wednesday, the minister said that Greece does not intend to make a legal claim for the return of the marbles, “the route for claiming the return of the Marbles is diplomatic and political”, he said, adding that the report drawn up by barrister Amal Alamuddin Clooney was part of the legal opinion on the issue that was gradually being handed over by the Robertson-Palmer law firm, who were experts in the field.
“You cannot go to trial over any issue, on the one hand, while on the other hand the outcome is uncertain in international courts. Things are not that simple”, Xydakis noted.
