Greek wins Red bull art of motion contest

A nineteen-year-old Greek was the winner of the “Red Bull Art of Motion” held this weekend on the Greek island of Santorini. Dimitris Kyrsanidis, a professional parkour athlete from Thessaloniki, impressed both audience and judges with his stunts and won the title. The island of Santorini, with its volcanic rocks and unique home architecture is considered the world’s best natural “parkour” racetrack, hence hosting the “Red Bull Art of Motion” for the fourth consecutive year. Eighteen athletes competed in the parkour competition while a total of 55 free-runners from across the world came to Santorini to compete in the preliminary phase held the previous days.
“Red Bull Art of Motion”, launched in Vienna in 2007, is the leading free-running festival with more than 10 competitions organized in different countries during the last few years. Santorini was chosen the top free-running destination in 2011 and the competition takes place in Firostefani ever since.
