Russian weddings in Greek islands on the rise

Following the Chinese, Russians too get to succumb to the alluring idea of a wedding ceremony in the Greek islands, with the island of Crete to stand high on their preferences. As it appears, a keen interest rises among travel agencies in organizing Russian weddings in Chania and other major cities of the island. Leading Greek tour operator “Beleon Tours” promotes Crete as the perfect place to organize Russian and Ukrainian weddings. It even held a competition called “My Greek Wedding” for couples from Russia and Ukraine, with the grand prize to be five wedding ceremonies, which took place at the end of May in Rethimno, Crete. “The number of tour packages that have already been booked is increased by 30% compared to 2013. During May alone, 23 wedding ceremonies were organized in Crete, Rhodes, Santorini and Kos by our agency”, says the president of Beleon Tours, Leonidas Dimitriades.
