Two arrested for damaging Acropolis surroundings

Two young Russians, both aged 23, were arrested on Sunday, according to the Police, for damaging a wall on the Acropolis while scaling it down in acrobatics, reports Kathimerini. A guard saw the boys preparing to scale the wall and warned them against it, however he was ignored says the Police. As they took on their acrobatic stunts, several stones fell off of the wall, which is a medieval addition. The two were arrested with charge of damaging an archaeological site. Police said they have been detained and will appear before an examining magistrate.
