Unemployment in Europe falls to lowest levels since 2012

Jobless rate at the Eurozone improved further in January, presenting its lowest level since April 2012 according to official data released Monday. Unemployment in the 19-nation Eurozone fell to 11.2% from 11.3% in December, with the jobless queues down by 140,000 to 18.06 million, said the EU statistics agency, Eurostat, according to which, the largest decreases were observed in Spain (25.5% to 23.4%), Estonia (8.5% to 6.4% between December 2013 and December 2014) and Ireland (12.1% to 10.0%). Germany records the lowest unemployment rates for January (4.7%) as well as Austria (4.8%). Greece’s jobless rate remains the highest (25.8% in November 2014) and Spain follows with 23.4%.
