Religious tourism to be promoted by authorities

The dynamics and promotion of religious tourism were extensively discussed during a meeting held recently between board members of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA) and the ruling body of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Holy Synod. The two parties have positively concluded on the need of setting up a special committee that would handle issues of religious tourism, while they called for a closer collaboration between tour operators and agencies with the responsible body of the Church of Greece. In this direction, a second meeting that will focus on actions for the promotion of religious tourism is to be held on March 3 at HATTA headquarters in Athens.
